The not-so-nice thing about dating or being the sister of the crafty girl, is that you are always at the receiving end of her messed-up prototypes– uglily-drawn images on envelopes, stamped cards that never registered well on the paper, gift tags that were badly cut– you name it, and both Andrew and my brother Daryl have received it. However, with the bad also comes the good! And this post shall be proof of that.
I’ve been wanting to make little treat bags for awhile, and I finally got my act together a few days ago. Here’s what I came up with:
The one on the left’s for Andrew, and the other’s for my brother. One thing I’ve noticed is that Andrew’s looks bigger– but really, they have the same number of MnMs inside (mix of both plain and peanut!), and are of the same dimensions! I think it’s because the wider oval window opens it up, plus the way the ribbon is threaded through. Andrew’s treat bag features an organza blue ribbon on marbled blue paper, and my brother’s has a houndstooth-patterned ribbon (or he calls them space invaders!), on green crosshatched paper.
A close-up of the peek-through window which I really love!
And a close-up of the ribbon– how delicate! :]
While I didn’t make these with a specific purpose in mind (other than the fact that I wanted to see if what I was picturing in my head would turn out well), I’m already rubbing my hands in glee at the possibilities! I can see these as party favours, baby shower gifts, feel better soon treats (stuff one with lozenges for a friend who’s ill?), valentine’s day baggies– the list just grows! :]
Trust me, it’s taken a LOT of discipline not to eat the MnMs while I was working on these! I’m proud to say I resisted and both Andrew and my brother will be receiving them as pictured. :] Hope you liked them– let me know in the comments, or at PaperExploits@gmail.com :] Happy Friday, all!
