Remember the post about the silly Sushi-themed Card I made for a customer? I did promise to share more about his order so here’s the third card I made (the second was the Golf Birthday Card I blogged about here)!
He asked for a Golden Ticket. No joke! It was a hilarious e-mail order to receive, and right away my head started spinning with ideas. He wanted it to be redeemable for lobster pasta, and I couldn’t stop giggling because I thought it was such a great idea! Initially I was a little bit worried that I wouldn’t be able to make it really gold in colour, but once I had this idea of a real golden ticket in my head, I just couldn’t get it out! This’ what I made:
Quite literal, yes! Had to squirm around to get a good angle for the shot, because the light kept reflecting off the super-glossy, super-reflective top!
It came with a custom-made envelope with the Elegance flap. I really wanted to show off the deliciously glinting metallic surface, so I made the envelope with heavy-weight matte translucent paper. Sort of like tracing paper, just a lot more sturdy. Made new measurements, cut it out, folded it, adhered the flaps, and tahdah! The result was a nice sort-of-see-through look, inviting the giftee to open it up in a hurry :]
Close-up of the front, with the words ‘Golden Ticket’ etched into the surface. :] It hurts to look at a little, doesn’t it?
The reverse. I really wanted to keep it in line with the whole idea of a redeemable ticket, like those old school ones someone’d fill up at a carnival when you win something! Typewritten with my darling Senior, I came up with this bit of text for my customer to fill in and personalize himself. I imagine he probably wrote ‘redeemable for lobster pasta’, haha! The edges of the reverse is also features a nice swirly border creeping in, in (yes, you guessed it) gold!
Judging from his reply e-mail with ‘whoohooo!’s all over the place, he was happy. I’m still waiting to confirm that he’s received it in the mail, but I can’t wait to hear what he thinks upon receiving them! This order was a really fun one to work on, and I’m rather pleased with the result. Click here to view the entire listing for his order.
