High-Waisted Pants!

The high-waisted pants is a look that can be modest-friendly!

You’ve probably seen them somewhere before, on the streets, in shops and wherever else, but it most likely got you thinking, can I pull off such a look? High-waisted pants are usually meant for people who are long-waisted (the ratio of their torso to their legs is higher than the average Jane) so as to make their legs appear longer as if they will go on forever and everrr. But fret not! As long as you find high-waisted pants that complement your leg length, hips, waist and the fitting/looseness of the pants, you might just be able to finally muster the courage to wear such pants!

So how exactly can you pair these pants with other clothes? You can wear a formal long-sleeved shirt (and roll up the sleeves for a more casual look) and tuck them into the pants, or wear a more fitting top that is tucked into the pants too. You can also wear a t-shirt or tank top and tuck into the pants followed by layering it with a cropped jacket or with a cardigan.

Notice that in the photo above, a belt is worn to add more definition to the look and also to make the look appear more ‘clean and polished’. In addition, we think that a looser fit in the (for lack of a better word) crotch area better complement people especially if wearing tight ones make them appear as if they’ve stuffed a watermelon inside their pants. 

Worried that your bum will look big? Or your thighs will appear like tree trunks? (Ok we exaggerate.) Well, we believe that the clothes shouldn’t make you so.. artificial but it is you who must showcase that determination to rock the look! Nonetheless, if you’re feeling a teeny wee bit down on the self-esteem side, then you can wear a long cardigan that covers the bum area and that will draw attention away from your thighs. Wear heels so as to further elongate the illusion that your legs are a bazillion kilometres long and you should be good and all set!

High-waisted pants usually retail in stores for above S$35. They are of good quality of course, plus you get to try them on in fitting rooms to see if they make a good pair.
