Pola-Calendars!

Things you’ll need for this:

• 42 Polaroid films or
• Magnets, tacks, or Photoclips

Here are the 3 simple steps to get your 1st Pola-Calendar:

1. Get Your Photos.

Have your Polaroid Camera ready at all times. When you see a number between 1 and 31 that you like, snap it! Snap letters to represent the seven days of the week (eg. M or Monday)

These are what you’ll need to snap:

• One Polaroids each of numbers 1 through 31
• Letters to represent of each day of the week
• Seven extra Polaroids to fill in gaps in the calendar (can be anything you want!)

 2. CLIP IT TOGETHER

• Get your fotoclips and start clipping your prints together.
• Use a calendar as reference on how to clip the numbers together, and use the extra Polaroids to fill any blank spaces at the beginning and end of the calendar.
• You can start by clipping together the rows for each week, then joining the rows together to make the calendar.
• An easy way to put the clips on without damaging the Polaroids is to start with a corner of the Polaroid, then slide it into place.

STEP 3: PUT IT UP, USE IT & WAIT FOR THE COMPLIMENTS!

Once its done, put it up on the wall and admire your own unique Calendar! Invite a few friends over to hear their “oohs” and “aahs”
At the start of each new month, you can switch the positions of the numbers to keep the calendar up to date.
BUT Don’t remove all the clips and do it again.
Leave the row of weekdays intact and use this simple tip:
Though the position of the numbers will always change, they will always be above the same group of numbers, as show below.

• 1/8/15/22

• 2/9/16/23

• 3/10/17/24

• 4/11/18/25

• 5/12/19/26

• 6/13/20/27

• 7/14/21/28

Add and remove photos to each row as needed, but leave those rows intact and just shift the first or last photos.

The fair also showcased The Brandery from Barcelona, who are “the true creators, drivers and stars of Barcelona’s urban fashion show”.  Check out their website for more details, it certainly looks more exciting, maybe I could visit that show in July when I’m back in Europe, any excuse to go to Barcelona!

  Ice cream never fails to work its magic on most people, I have yet to meet any one who doesn't like ice cream. Even dairy avoiders like myself cannot resist this sweet treat. The satisfaction of the icy cool, smooth coat of sweetness in your mouth takes all the attention off the amount of calories you're actually consuming. Add the mix-ins, tim tams, granolas, oreos and so on, and there's heaven right here on earth. Universally adored as ice cream is, subjectiveness is equally applicable. Pickiness hits when it comes to flavours; some people hate chocolate (why?!), some don't take mint (why?!), some don't take vanilla (like myself), some only take sorbets, some love the exotic or weird concoctions, and the list goes on. Same as with fashion, it's subjective. Not only do different things look good on different people but what each individual likes is vastly different as well. When these individuals coincide on something they like, then boom, that's the bestseller or the 'hot' piece of the season or runway or collection.   

This week we headed down to Ice Cream Chefs (across the main road from Casuarina Curry) for Birthday Month Specials Part 2. Apart from the stares from the dine-in customers and the challenge of getting the lighting right, it was the usual photo-shoot-fun. Check out Tisha's great big smile in almost every shot, who says ice cream isn't an immediate perk-me-up? 

Vests are rather passe, moreover, the weather these days makes it impossible to wear an additional layer on top of your attire. However, chiffon shrugs and lace vests make for easy accessories. Not only are they an updated version of the vest that we have seen too much of, they're light and airy, which makes them wearable in this oven that we inhabit. Choose from black or cream and take your pick on whether you want crochet lace adorning the back of the vest. Wear them with shorts to complement your casual weekend or dress up an ordinary dress with one of these pretty additions. The crochet lace vest can be tired at the waist or left open in front, whichever tickles your fancy. Avoid layering lace over lace as it would be an overkill. Hence, with the crochet lace vest, pair with a plain tank top. Since the vest is sleeveless, your top or dress should be sleeveless as well or it would look odd. 

Loving the prints this week thanks to a fresh take on the overdone 'bird' prints and in new colours too. This print features a bold, fat bird (haha) and when placed against emerald, mustard and navy is reminiscent of the quirky Marc by Marc Jacobs. The contrasting stripes on the skater dress give it a new swing, so update that skater look with this edgy one. On this sweltering day, I say some ice cream calls, head down to Ice Cream Chefs if you are around the area. If not, look out for the uncles pushing those familiar ice  cream carts and invest $1 for 10 minutes of happiness. If all else fails, there's Macdonald's and the ice cream cone that was 50 cents, then 60 cents and now 70 cents. All hail inflation.
